AC Milan will not take their opportunity to sign Niclas Fullkrug in the summer, it seems. The German, ultimately, has not shone in either role given.
The reaction to Milan signing Fullkrug, both from Italy and England, was quite similar. People didn’t really understand why. Those from East London were happy to see him go, but confused about the deal’s structure.
From Milano, it was a case of a physical striker arriving, albeit not the one who many wanted. Nevertheless, that confusion was never resolved at San Siro, where Fullkrug has really failed to shine, unfortunately.
Fullkrug the flop
Whilst he has displayed strong attributes on occasions, he has not been the physical game-changer or the physical starter. Instead, he has been used as one of the only options available to the Rossoneri.
Santiago Gimenez is now on the verge of a proper return, and the international break could give a chance for Rafael Leao to recover.
So, his game time moving forward could be even more limited than it has already been. As a result, Il Giornale’s headline this morning reads ‘Fullkrug flop, sent back to sender’, as MilanNews relays. It certainly seems difficult to imagine him staying at the club permanently this summer.
