How many points Everton will need to qualify for Europe based on last five seasons average

Everton’s 3-0 win against Chelsea has really made supporters believe that a European finish is possible.

The Toffees produced their best performance of the season at the weekend, sending out a real statement of intent to the Premier League.

Speaking after the game, David Moyes admitted Europe is the goal: “It’s seven games to go to see if we can cling on to a position in Europe.

Surely everyone is Moyes in now? 🤔

David Moyes.

“I’d say if we can get a position in top 10 we’d see it as a really good season, not near the bottom of the table fighting relegation. But I think we’re here now, I don’t want to step away because you don’t get many chances, so I think every game we have to see if we can get points and see if we can give ourselves a chance of getting into one of the European competitions.”

With that said, we’ve tried to calculate how many points Everton may need to qualify for Europe based on the average of the last five seasons.

Everton may need 60 points for Europe

We looked at how many points seventh place finished on in the last five seasons to give us an idea of what it’d take to qualify for the Conference League this term.

Season 7th placed team 7th-placed team

2024/25 Nottingham Forest 65

2023/24 Newcastle United 60

2022/23 Aston Villa 61

2021/22 West Ham United 56

2020/21 Totttenham Hotspur 62

With that said, the average points total needed for seventh place is 60.8, so Everton need another 14 points.

With seven games to go, that means they need to average two points per game, which will certainly be a challenge.

They’re currently averaging 1.48 points per game, so they’ll need to raise their levels in the final run-in.

Moyes’ side have a pretty decent run of fixtures, as four of their final seven games are against teams in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Plus, they have opportunities to take points off teams around them, with Brentford and Liverpool their next two games.
