Manchester United have been linked to Newcastle United duo Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali ahead of the summer transfer window.
A midfield overhaul is on the horizon at Manchester United and Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali have both been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Casemiro has recommended Guimaraes as his successor at United when he leaves as a free agent this summer, and Tonali is eager to play Champions League football.
While the Red Devils are closing in on Champions League qualification, Newcastle are down in 12th in the Premier League table and a lack of European football could leave the Magpies in a worrying financial situation.

Eddie Howe makes PSR confession ahead of summer transfer window
Ironically, Newcastle strengthened United’s PSR this summer by signing Anthony Elanga, but the transfer business at St James’ Park has not been a major success for Eddie Howe.
Howe finds himself under huge pressure after losing the Tyne-Wear derby and crashing out of the Champions League, and he has now admitted Newcastle could face PSR issues and be forced to sell.
“The last summer was tough to say the least. It was the hardest transfer window I’ve ever had. We don’t want to lose momentum in any way, we want to continue to bring the best players and desperately don’t want to lose our best players,” Howe said in his post-match press conference.

“That combination is so important, but it gets harder and harder and more challenging for us because we don’t have the revenues of other clubs.
“The rules make it very difficult. I don’t know a way we can beat that system. We have to follow the rules.
“The club desperately wants to be ambitious, but there is a limit to what we can spend. I don’t know any team that wouldn’t suffer from that, and we certainly have.”

Man United can offer Newcastle PSR escape
United and Newcastle found themselves dueling for several transfer targets last summer – Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all chose to make the move to Old Trafford.
Those three new signings have helped to propel United to Champions League football, which will provide a £100m+ revenue boost to United next season.

Ineos will have a budget to spend, especially on top-class midfielders such as Tonali and Guimaraes.
Tonali is expected to cost £100m, while Guimaraes has a release clause at Newcastle which could see him leave for much less.
Newcastle need funds based on Howe’s comments and United need midfielders – it makes sense.
