Former Manchester United talent Dillon Hoogewerf is rebuilding his career in the Netherlands.
It is a long time since Dillon Hoogewerf was scoring goals for fun for Manchester United’s academy. During the 2020/21 season, Hoogewerf scored 12 goals and provided a further 12 assists.
The talented forward left United in early 2022 to sign with Borussia Moenchengladbach, but failed to crack their first team. He is now re-launching his career with Vitesse in the Dutch second tier, after impressing on a trial last season.
Hoogewerf, 23, is now a first team regular for Vitesse with nine goals and one assist so far this season.

Dillon Hoogewerf’s commitment praised
One of the key attributes for any young player is having a positive attitude that will endear him to his coach. Dillon Hoogewerf has checked this box.
Hoogewerf earned praise at the weekend following his contribution to Vitesse’s 2-0 win over Jong PSV.
The former Manchester United player was in hospital on Friday night (20/3) to witness the birth of his child.
He then drove himself to Eindhoven to join the squad to play their match the following day. He came off the bench in the 69th minute to contribute to the win.

Manager Rudiger Rehm told ESPN: “It wasn’t my decision. I said: ‘Enjoy it,’ because I know what it’s like to become a father. But he wanted to come and help the team. I told him that we would put him on the match sheet and wanted to let him play where possible.
“I’ve been in football for thirty years, but I’ve never experienced anything like this.”
Vitesse are a lowly 15th out of 20 teams in the division with 13 victories from 33 games so far.

Dillon Hoogewerf’s next move is unclear, as his current contract with Vitesse expires in June 2026.
There is no doubt that this season has been a big success for him at individual level. Prior to 2025/26, he had not scored a goal at professional level.
Now he is a valuable contributor for his side, currently their leading goalscorer with nine in all competitions.
If he is now offered an extension, he has become an attractive option for teams. Having entered the season needing to prove a point and establish his career at professional level, Hoogewerf has succeeded.
