Liverpool have the chance to bring in some new faces when the summer transfer window opens up for business

Liverpool are ‘interested’ in a move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga along with Manchester United, according to TEAMtalk. The report adds that he could be available for just £43million in the next transfer window. He is under contract in Spain until June 2029.

Arne Slot’s side were beaten 2-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion over the weekend. They weren’t able to get anything from the game in the end. The Merseyside outfit are sat in 5th place in the Premier League table.

Liverpool target Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga

Liverpool could do with some competition in midfield for the likes of Alexis MacAllister and Ryan Gravenberch. Therefore, someone like Camavinga would be ideal for the Merseyside outfit. However, they may need to look elsewhere for reinforcements in the middle of the park if Manchester United sign him instead.

Camavinga, 23, has been on the books at Real Madrid since joining them back in 2021. Prior to his switch to the La Liga giants, he rose up through the academy at Rennes and was a regular for them at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team as a youngster. He then left France for La Liga and hasn’t looked back since.

The France international, who has 28 caps to his name, has been a useful asset for Real Madrid over recent years. He has made 213 appearances in all competitions and has scored six goals. However, his long-term future is up in the air now.

Speaking after their defeat to Brighton, Slot said: "Of course now looking at the league table, this loss hurts a lot and it should hurt us a lot. But the main problem is that we are in this position because we dropped a point at Wolves in the last minute from a deflected shot. That [Tottenham] goal last week in the 90th minute is, I would say, even a bigger problem than losing away at Brighton."

He added: “At our club we're also looking at the situation and the challenge we had during this season, and then we might be a bit more realistic, why the season has gone why it is gone. But still it's not good enough no matter how much excuses I can come up with, it's still not good enough for the position you're in right now."
