Man Utd season ratings so far, unstoppable Fernandes is 9/10 but 8.5/10 star is the biggest surprise

Manchester United won’t play football again until April 13th, which means it’s the ideal time to rate the players ahead of the last stretch of the season.

The season can be divided into two parts for Man Utd – before Ruben Amorim and after his sacking.

Michael Carrick’s arrival brought a breath of fresh air instantly and resulted in many players saving their season from being a write-off.

To nobody’s surprise, Bruno Fernandes leads the way, but his 8.5/10 teammate stands as the biggest surprise. Ratings below are sorted as per minutes played in the league, from most to least.

[Note: Ratings only for the league season. Players who played only against Grimsby and Brighton in cup games have that game’s rating as their season total.]

What position would Man Utd be in NOW if Ruben Amorim was still head coach?

Let's hear your views!!!

Luke Shaw – 7

The fact that Luke Shaw has played the most minutes for Man Utd in the league is worthy of a 7/10 alone. Unfortunately, he’s been available without being remarkable as he has lost his dynamism. 7/10, it shall remain.

Bruno Fernandes – 9/10

Where would United be without Bruno Fernandes? It’s scary to imagine, as he did the business regardless of the manager, the formation, or the occasion. Best at United, best in the league.

Senne Lammens – 8.5

Amorim didn’t want Senne Lammens, but the Belgian showed from his debut that he was born to play for United. He has gone from strength to strength at Old Trafford and emerged as the biggest surprise of the season relative to expectations.

Bryan Mbeumo – 7.5/10

Five games ago, Mbeumo would be alongside Lammens at 8.5/10, but he has hit his first rough patch at the club, and the frustration is palpable. Still, 12 goal contributions in the league are praiseworthy.

Diogo Dalot – 6

Diogo Dalot is extremely good at a few things (ball progression) and extremely bad at others (final third) while being available all the time. A solid average of 6/10 suits him just fine.

Casemiro – 8/10

Casemiro has been a tour de force this season with his goal-scoring and defensive sweeping. One game/week schedule has fired him up, and his partnership with Fernandes has won numerous points for Utd.

I would pay a MAXIMUM of £___ per-week to Casemiro to extend his contract

Fill in the blank with your offer. Casemiro earns around £350k/week right now. Will you go high or walk away?

Matheus Cunha – 7.5/10

Contrary to Mbeumo, Cunha would be at 6.5/10 had he not reinvented himself as a winger under Carrick with remarkable results. He’s emerged as Carrick’s maverick, and the future looks exciting.

Amad – 6/10

Just two goals and two assists in the league sum up a frustrating campaign for Amad, who has worked relentlessly but without end product.

Leny Yoro – 6.5/10

Yoro started in rough form and had some truly forgettable games, but has started showing signs of becoming the elite CB he is destined to be. A good building block for him.

Patrick Dorgu – 7.5/10

An injury can’t stop Dorgu from getting 7.5/10 because he was on a warpath before his season stopped. Refashioned into a forward player, he was effectively two players in one. United have the left-back spot ready for his return to unleash their perfect XI.

Benjamin Sesko – 8/10

Considering the pressure he was under from day one, Sesko’s hitting double-figures in all competitions is a brilliant feat. He has all the tools and the mentality to succeed. The floor is already high, and the ceiling is tantalising.

How do you predict Benjamin Sesko’s career at Manchester United will go?

It's early – but let's see your predictions!

Harry Maguire – 8/10

This season was another renaissance for Harry Maguire as he continued to defy age and expectations. A fit Maguire is the first name on the XI, and a new contract soon will punctuate his form.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7/10

De Ligt was on track to have the season Maguire has had, but a brutal back injury has seen him miss nearly four months of action. He was having a tremendous season before the issue. The hope is that he picks up from where he left off before his injury.

Kobbie Mainoo – 8/10

Amorim’s Mainoo would have received 2/10 through no fault of his own, but Carrick’s Mainoo has easily been an 8/10 player. He’s controlling the midfield, adding intensity, and has recently forced his way back into the England setup. Truly a season of two halves for him.

Is Ruben Amorim not playing Kobbie Mainoo the worst decision you can remember from a recent Man Utd manager?

Lisandro Martinez – 6/10

Martinez’s performances when available have been well above average, but he’s played so few minutes (889) that it’s frustrating to rate him any higher.

Mason Mount – 4/10

Like Martinez, injuries have also stopped him from playing much, and he hasn’t been as key as Martinez when he plays. So 4/10 it is.

Manuel Ugarte – 2/10

Man Utd fans are on panic stations when Manuel Ugarte is on the pitch, which hasn’t happened often under Carrick. He just looks awed by the pace of the league. A clean break in the summer should beckon.

Ayden Heaven – 7/10

Most difficult rating to give because it’s an endorsement for his potential in the absence of many chances. Amorim trusted him but Carrick hasn’t so far. Every time he’s played, he’s looked good.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5/10

Biggest loser from Carrick’s hiring, as his minutes got eaten by Dalot once the extra CB was lost in the formation change. Injuries haven’t helped, but he’s clearly still got a role to play.

Altay Bayindir – 3

Bayindir played the first six league games of the season and proceeded to give Man Utd fans panic in each. Faded into the background as a firm backup, which was much needed.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10

Joshua Zirkzee has played just 482 league minutes, but managed two goals and an assist in those cameos. Hard done by a lack of games this season, but there’s clearly a player there who deserves more minutes.

Should Manchester United KEEP or SELL Joshua Zirkzee in summer 2026?

Jack Fletcher – 4/10

Amorim gave Jack Fletcher his debut but set him up to fail by changing his position. Didn’t have the best of a time in any of his three appearances, totaling 97 minutes.

Extras

Shea Lacey, Bendito Mantato, Tyrell Malacia, Tyler Fredricson, and Tyler Fletcher combined to play 24 league minutes. Lacey made an impression in limited minutes and hopes to return to the squad against Leeds. Mantato’s latest injury rules him out for the season.

Malacia shouldn’t have received the minutes he did, while Fredricson probably needs a loan. The same goes for Tyler Fletcher.
