"I'm just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dreams came true," a fresh faced Trent Alexander-Arnold beamed. He was 20-years-old and a Champions League winner with his boyhood club.
Seven years have passed since that moment in Madrid, a city he now calls home, and the full-back is now Public Enemy No.1 on Merseyside and struggling to break back into the England set-up.
Alexander-Arnold's Madrid dream has quickly descended into a nightmare, one that started when he was booed by his own fans during his final matches for Liverpool last season. And without the chance to really ride off into the sunset, he arrived at Real Madrid with a point to prove.

There were still glares from Anfield, especially when he spoke Spanish at his unveiling to the delight of his language tutor - but as she opened up about his language lessons, it didn't take long for Liverpool fans to do the math.
And on the pitch, it hasn't gone much better. The full-back has been in and out of the team with injury problems, tactical choices and his latest omission was due to a "breach of their code of conduct".
There's also be a change in the dugout, it was Xabi Alonso that brought him to Madrid but Alvaro Arbeloa is the man in the hot seat now.

While off the pitch, he has split from his long term girlfriend Estelle Behnke.
Trent suffered his latest setback last week, when he was again snubbed by Thomas Tuchel for the England squad - a fourth successive absence from the national team.
He hit back over the weekend, coming off the bench to almost make an instant impact in the Madrid derby against Atleti before assisting Vinicius Jr: "Madrid. Y nada mas," he posted on Instagram, which translates to "Madrid. And nothing else".

Speaking about his England omission, Tuchel said: "A slightly different profile...It's not what Trent cannot offer us. I know very well what Trent can offer.
"I suffered when he played against my teams with Liverpool. I know very well about his strengths and what he can give."

However, his omission from the latest squad raises questions about Tuchel's plans when the Three Lions head stateside in the summer.
