Morgan Gibbs-White will have enjoyed Nottingham Forest beating Tottenham more than most as the Reds took a big step towards safety.
The Forest number 10 was all set for Tottenham in the summer – or so the Londoners thought – with the popular belief that they’d activated some sort of release clause in Gibbs-White’s contract.

However, Evangelos Marinakis stood firm and battened down the hatches to keep Gibbs-White, handing him an extension to his existing contract.
Gibbs-White scored the second Forest goal in a 3-0 win, and after the game, he had a little dig at Tottenham with an amusing response to a chant from the away end.

It’s fair to say that Forest fans enjoyed this victory over Tottenham as the Reds ensured that Spurs’ pre-match build-up to this game looked awfully foolish.
Gibbs-White’s goal really did give Tottenham a mountain to climb, with Taiwo Awoniyi ripping any chance Spurs had away from them in the final stages.
Forest fans sang, ‘Morgan Gibbs-White he stayed ‘cos you’re s%^$e’, in the closing stages and the number 10 responded by laughing towards the fans and subtly nodding his head in approval.
