Forest still have lots of work to do in order to save their season, but this is a positive step in the right direction and gives Vitor Pereira his maiden Premier League win as the head coach.

Alan Shearer enjoyed the Forest performance, and he’s gone to town on the Reds after their heroics against Tottenham at the weekend.

Alan Shearer names three Forest players in Team of the Week

It’s been a while this season, but Shearer’s Team of the Week has a very Forest-focused look about it this week, with three players and Pereira getting the nod.

Matz Sels was named by Shearer as the goalkeeper for his team, with strong saves coming from Mathys Tel and Dominic Solanke during the contest.

Also named as part of the defensive unit is Nikola Milenkovic, who proved absolutely colossal at the back for Forest, and this was much more like the Serbian defender whom the Reds counted on last season.

Completing the trio of Forest stars in this week’s Team of the Week was captain Morgan Gibbs-White.

The number 10 was jeered by Tottenham fans throughout the contest but had the last laugh as he fired Forest into a 2-0 lead in the second half.

Pereira being named as the manager proved to be the icing on the cake, and he richly deserved his flowers after claiming a first Premier League win since arriving at Forest.

Forest now need their players to keep stepping up for the final seven games of the season as the club’s Premier League status remains on the line.

It’s great to see Forest claim another big win over Tottenham, and now there will be genuine optimism now that relegation can be avoided this season.
