Tottenham target told he risks 'damaging reputation' if he replaces Igor Tudor

Adi Hutter may be desperate for a return to work, but is he desperate enough to take over Tottenham Hotspur?

Igor Tudor is the incumbent man in the dugout for Tottenham, but a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday has ramped up discussion his time in charge may be over.

The defeat to Forest was the fifth Tudor had overseen from seven matches across all competitions and the fourth in Premier League action since he took charge from Thomas Frank, who was sacked in February.

Tottenham now sit just one place and one point outside of the relegation zone with seven league fixtures to go, meaning their Premier League future is far from guaranteed.

talkSPORT understands Tottenham are continuing to deliberate over whether to change manager for the final seven games of the season.

The appointment of Igor Tudor has not delivered the bounce the Spurs hierarchy wanted, however the matter is sensitive following the death of the Croatian's father.

It's why Tottenham are understood to be sounding out potential replacements should they axe Tudor in a last-ditch attempt to save their season.

Hutter, who has been without a job since last October, is one of the options believed to be under consideration from Spurs to take over from Tudor.

The Austrian boasts an impressive managerial CV having enjoyed successful stints at Young Boys, Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco.

However, speaking on talkSPORT's Hawksbee and Jacobs, European football expert Andy Brassell fears Hutter could do long-lasting damage to his reputation if he decides to take on the Tottenham job should it be offered to him.

Brassell: Hutter risks reputational damage

"Well, he's a good coach in the right environment and he's had some good moments at Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco," Brassell said.

"But, who really would change things at this point?

"I can't see what particular element of him would recommend him to the situation at Spurs and why he'd want to damage his reputation doing this.

"I'm always very skeptical of this, either on one hand he knows the club or he has no experience of the Premier League. It's just about the situation and the temperament to deal with that situation.

"Even though Tudor was left field, there was a lot to recommend him. I think he's gone in there and realised, 'Oh my god, this is way bigger than anything I expected.'"

Hutter is unlikely to be the only name being discussed by Tottenham's top brass.

talkSPORT previously reported Tottenham were sounding out up to eight names to replace Tudor, with CEO Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange understood to be leading the process.

Who else could take over from Tudor at Tottenham?

Along with Hutter, there is internal support for ex-Spurs player and coach Chris Hughton.

Ferencvaros boss Robbie Keane would also be keen to return to his former club, but only on a longer-term deal.

Roberto De Zerbi is viewed as a leading candidate for the summer IF Spurs avoid relegation but sources have told talkSPORT he remains reluctant to take over now.

Sean Dyche has been touted as a potential option, but the former Nottingham Forest boss is believed to prefer a longer-term deal with a break clause.

Mauricio Pochettino, who enjoyed a successful stint in charge of Tottenham between 2014 and 2019, is open to a return but would have to wait until after the World Cup, where he will lead the United States.
