Agent of Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes responds to latest Man Utd rumours?

Last week, it was claimed that Bruno Guimaraes had agreed terms with Manchester United over a summer move.

It didn’t take long before Newcastle United sources had shut down the rumours as journalists with actual contacts inside St James’ Park were told that this was all news to them.

The rumour died off, and everything returned to normal. For a few days at least, because paid Manchester United mouthpiece, Fabrizio Romano reignited the flames on his YouTube channel.

Romano, who is part reliable transfer journalist and part “will say anything anyone pays me to” journalist, must have taken a payday to spread this one on Manchester United’s behalf.

The fact that Romano clearly states that the meetings took place weeks ago, after the story had already been rubbished, is a huge indicator that he’s been asked to say this to stir things up.

“What I can confirm is that, yes, a meeting did take place in recent weeks.

“It wasn’t held yesterday, today or tomorrow, but rather a few weeks ago between Guimaraes’ representatives and Manchester United.

“The information from Brazil is accurate: a meeting was held, and United maintain a good relationship with the agency.

“From there, meetings can lead to agreements on personal terms, and eventually to registering the player in the summer, but there is still a long way to go.”

Meanwhile, the agent who brokered Bruno Guimaraes’ move to Newcastle in 2022, Alexis Malavolta, has posted a simple question mark on X, which Newcastle fans have taken to mean that all of this is news to him too.

We can’t say with any degree of certainty that’s what Malavolta was referring to when he made that post, but the timing lines up nicely.

Like so many other Newcastle fans, we’re going to take a leap of faith and believe that Malavolta was hinting that the stories are absolute hogwash.

Bruno to Manchester United? It just doesn’t make sense. Bruno playing for any other Premier League team doesn’t make sense to us. Okay, it’s not impossible, but it is unlikely, surely.
