Erling Haaland responded to chants of "Leeds! Leeds! Leeds!" after receiving his Carabao Cup winners' medal by replying "'til we die".

A fan caught the Manchester City player's attention by shouting his first name before chanting at him. While walking down the steps at Wembley Stadium, Haaland looked up and pointed at the supporter filming their interaction.

Having being born in Leeds while his father, Alf-Inge, was playing for the Whites, Haaland does not hide his affection for the club. In a recent video with the Sidemen, he replied, "Love that," after Simon Minter said he is a Leeds fan.

Haaland also pulled up Tobi Brown for saying he supported "United". He asked, "Which United? Leeds?" and made a face after being told it was Manchester.

Nine years ago, in February 2017, he told the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten: "The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds." Haaland has since gone on to win it twice with Man City and notably did not celebrate after scoring two times in his first match against them in December 2022.

He told another Norwegian newspaper, Verdens Gang: "It was planned, I didn't feel like cheering, I have respect for Leeds, where I was born.

"Of course, I cheered together with Jack [Grealish] and said 'good job', as they were two fantastic assists.

"My father and mother were in the stands, the whole family in the stands, it is special. When I was little, I had a Leeds kit with Eirik Bakke on the back and a City kit with my father on it.

"Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would play at Elland Road for City against Leeds. You can't even dream about it, because it's so surreal, with a father who has played for both clubs. I am proud today!"

Kalvin Phillips told BBC Radio 5 Live before that match: "Erling Haaland is a Leeds fan, he is a massive Leeds fan as well. We have actually talked about coming to Elland Road to watch a big game as well; Leeds fans need to watch out for us in the stands."

Leeds' then head coach Jesse Marsch worked with Haaland at Red Bull Salzburg and said: "Erling texted me as soon as the schedule came out, and he said he was most excited for Boxing Day. He was born here, his father has history at the club, and he has the club in his heart because of that."
