Manchester United are likely to target a new left-back signing this summer, but for one big reason it shouldn’t be Alphonso Davies.
The Canadian full-back was once among the most desired players in world football, joining Bayern Munich from the Vancouver Whitecaps to quickly become a world class player.
Manchester United have shown interest in signing Alphonso Davies on multiple occasions. But ultimately no move has ever become advanced due to the financials involved and United’s lack of Champions League football in recent years.
But now new links have emerged and they must have the same outcome.

Alphonso Davies is available for transfer this year
With United in the market for a full-back, Davies was always likely to be linked, and now talkSPORT have drawn the lines between club and player.
The report claims that United are one of several Premier League clubs keen on signing Davies as it has been made known he is available this summer for transfer.
Bayern Munich would consider letting Davies leave, the report explains, if there was an offer on the table. Which currently there is not.

Davies’ availability for transfer is being considered by Bayern due to the consistent string of injuries that the Canadian national team captain has endured. Meaning they want to replace.
But considering these issues, United should avoid making a move.

Manchester United need to avoid signing Davies
United missing out on Davies has been a blessing in disguise previously, with the Canadian’s injuries persistent over the past few years.
For this reason, Ineos need to also avoid this summer.
Signing players that the likes of Bayern want rid of is never a good idea, as evidenced with Matthijs de Ligt’s back problem seeing him miss months.
In addition Real Madrid letting Raphael Varane leave saw the Frenchman injured often despite some of the class he showed.
Davies would carry massive risk, and that would be anti-Ineos right now at Old Trafford. But credit to the recruitment staff, they are likely to steer clear of Davies themselves as he would break the wage structure and injuries would see him fail that aspect of the process.
