Injured Man Utd star spotted at Carrington closing in on return to fitness

Patrick Dorgu has missed Manchester United’s last eight matches in the Premier League with a hamstring injury.

It was in late January that Patrick Dorgu suffered an injury in the 3-2 win over Arsenal in the Premier League.

At the time, Dorgu was in incredible form playing on the left wing. Due to his injury, Dorgu missed out on the Denmark squad, meaning he will not compete in this month’s World Cup play-off matches.

A return appears to be on the horizon, though, as Dorgu was spotted at Carrington last week and now training photos have been uploaded by the club.

In Michael Carrick’s latest Dorgu update, he said that the 21-year-old is “further down the line” in his recovery than others.

United published an Instagram photo on Tuesday of Patrick Dorgu training at Carrington, captioned: “The hard work continues for Patrick, as part of his rehabilitation at Carrington.”

United are on a 24-day break before their next Premier League fixture against Leeds United on April 13.

Patrick Dorgu will have to compete with Matheus Cunha

In Carrick’s 4-2-3-1 formation, Dorgu played his best football as a left-sided winger as opposed to left-back.

When Dorgu returns to full fitness, his biggest challenge will be reclaiming a spot in the starting XI.

Matheus Cunha has been in great form in recent weeks and has cemented his spot on the left, so Dorgu will have his work cut out.

Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo are competing for a starting spot on the right, while Benjamin Sesko is hoping to return to a starting role following his scoring streak.
