Man Utd consider short-training camp away from Carrington after March international break

Manchester United are trying to plan the 24-day break between games constructively, with a training camp based away from Carrington being an option.

Following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Friday night, there is a 24-day break before Michael Carrick’s side face rivals Leeds at Old Trafford.

That means United have to wait more than three weeks to get a chance to return to winning ways. Carrick will be keen to do that not only against Leeds, but to bolster United’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Carrick must try to ensure his players are prepared to take maximum points from Leeds. It comes as a boost that Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo won’t be taking part in any international friendlies.

What do you think is the reason behind Bryan Mbeumo’s recent dip in form?

Do you think he will end the season strongly?

Man Utd consider short training camp after internationals

Several players will remain at Carrington due to not being called up for international action this month, before being given a break later this week to go on holiday.

Perhaps the most disappointed not to have got a call is Luke Shaw, snubbed again by Thomas Tuchel, who recalled both Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo to his England squad.

It may be a test for Carrick to retain momentum after a long break from fixtures, but it’s not the first time United have had a long break since he became head coach in January.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are considering a training camp away from Carrington once the players away on international break return.

The main reason for the long break is due to the latest international window; however, United will also miss a second consecutive weekend of action due to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

United must wait until the following Monday night to host Leeds in the Premier League.

The report adds that United have not yet arranged any behind-closed-doors games to keep players sharp.

Where have Man Utd visited for short-training camps previously?

United have a long tradition of arranging short-training camps during mid-season breaks to fill the fixture list.

There were suggestions earlier this season that United could arrange mid-season friendlies due to the lack of competitive fixtures.

In recent years, United have travelled to Dubai and Spain.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in 2021, United held a short staycation training camp in Surrey.
