Liverpool are now interested in signing £35m player from Newcastle

Liverpool are eyeing a reunion between Alexander Isak and former Newcastle teammate Lewis Hall.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a target as Liverpool assess options at left-back ahead of the next transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs credited with interest in Hall, alongside Arsenal and Manchester United.

Newcastle’s current position is that the defender is not for sale this summer.

Liverpool looking at left-back options for life after Robertson

Liverpool’s interest comes at a time when the club are considering how to refresh the position long term. Andy Robertson is one of Liverpool’s greatest players, but planning for the future at left-back is clearly needed with the Scot looking like leaving at the end of the season.

Hall is viewed as an attractive option because he is young, already proven at Premier League level and capable of offering flexibility.

As well as playing at left-back, he can also operate in midfield, which adds to his appeal.

That versatility is important as Liverpool weigh up different profiles in the market. Hall is not the only name under consideration, with players like Antonee Robinson linked previously.

It would be a quality pick-up for the Reds, but his current outfit will be desperate to avoid a repeat of last summer.

Newcastle stance makes any move difficult

Any attempt to sign Hall would be complicated by Newcastle’s clear reluctance to sell. He joined from Chelsea in 2023 in a deal worth £35 million including add-ons, and the club see him as part of their long-term plans.

Hall is also under contract until 2029, which leaves Newcastle in a strong position. His own ties to the club are another factor, with the report noting that he is happy on Tyneside and highly valued internally.

If you could buy ANY Premier League player right now, who are you signing for Liverpool this summer?

We have already seen how difficult Newcastle can be to deal with when going after top targets. Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak last summer was not without its difficulties, and Hall now looks set to present a similar challenge.

For now, Liverpool’s interest is real, but Newcastle’s stance remains firm. Unless that changes, Hall looks like a difficult deal to complete despite his obvious suitability to a position at Anfield.
