Saltor: Spurs players '100 per cent trying' after Forest defeat

Tottenham Hotspur faced a crushing 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest.

Sunday’s match saw the north London side battle to gain valuable league points amid concerns about their future in the Premier League.

Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor was taking media duties due to the absence of Spurs boss Igor Tudor, who was called away on a personal matter.

Fans rally behind Spurs on the High Road

Saltor praised the support of the club’s fans, who formed a show of support on the High Road as the team bus made its way to the stadium.

*“It was quite emotional for everyone on the bus and that's what we need because right now, all of us, we have the same goal and that is to fight until the end of the season and stay in the **Premier League*… as this club deserves."

On the players, Saltor stated that they “care and are 100 per cent trying their best, but at the moment, it's not enough.”

“I thought for 44 minutes in the first half we were the better team.

“I think any mistake that we make, any small detail goes against us and we're not able to capitalise on the opposition's mistakes, and probably that affected the team.”

Where did it go wrong for Spurs?

He went on to comment on where he felt Spurs lacked in the second half.

"The players were affected by the rhythm of the game and we couldn't find that rhythm to create more chances.”

Can Tottenham turn the tide?

Despite Tottenham now having 13 games without a win in the league, Saltor is confident that there is time to turn the situation around and avoid the threat of falling into the bottom of the table.

*“It gives me the belief that the last two games against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, I thought they were great performances from the first minute to the last minute.”*

“The best way to do it is focusing every day on doing your best, trying to be the best version of yourself, trying to push through difficulties, focusing on every action, not focusing on the end goal.”

“We need to reflect on ourselves and try to get the best version because we need it now."
