Manchester United star Benjamin Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, has given him the nickname "super striker" following his recent display at the club. His comments came after he weighed in on Sesko being named a "super sub" instead.
Benjamin Sesko signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2025 and has been in impressive form so far in his first season. The Slovenian has made 28 appearances for the Red Devils this season, scoring 10 times across competitions. He has featured as a starter in 15 fixtures, with 13 of them being in the Premier League. However, Sesko has been a potent attacker after coming off the bench under interim boss Michael Carrick, leading to pundits and fans dubbing him the "super sub."
In an interview with Arena Sport (h/t GOAL), Benjamin Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, weighed in on his client's "super sub" nickname. He gave Sesko the new nickname "super striker", explaining:
"If you ask me about this name [Super-sub], I don’t like it. I like ‘super striker’ much more. I think Benjamin is a super striker. He has started 13 games this year, coming off the bench in 13 games. He scored half of his goals when he started the game and half when he came off the bench. We can see that he is a complete striker and Benjamin is someone who deserves the name 'super striker!'"
While Sesko has come off the bench in 13 games across competitions this season, much of it has also been a medical decision. The 22-year-old missed four games due to a knee injury in this campaign, and Carrick has been careful about his minutes so he can have maximum impact even with fewer minutes.
Rio Ferdinand claims Benjamin Sesko should get more gametime at Manchester United following latest draw
Speaking after Manchester United's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in the Premier League last week, Rio Ferdinand claimed Benjamin Sesko should get more gametime. Ferdinand urged coach Michael Carrick to give Sesko more opportunities, saying (via Metro UK):
"I think with Sesko now, he has five goals in nine games, most of them coming off the bench, and you’re looking at him thinking, you’re scoring that amount of goals, when’s he actually going to get a start? Because he’s come on again, but you can’t always save the day."
He added:
"It’s not always gonna happen where you come on and continue to just keep saving the day and keep getting your goals like that. I think he’ll be sitting there now kind of thinking, ‘right, okay, come on, time’s up now give me the starts that I require now to put myself in a good place’."
Manchester United currently stand third in the Premier League rankings with 55 points from 31 games. Benjamin Sesko will remain crucial to the Red Devils' remaining season as they will look to secure Champions League football for next season with a top-four finish.
