Roberto De Zerbi identified as man who could save Tottenham

Brighton & Hove Albion supporters will be keeping a close eye on developments at Tottenham, with former Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi strongly linked with a return to the Premier League.

Reports on Tuesday (March 24) suggest Spurs are preparing to part ways with Igor Tudor within the next 48 hours, identifying De Zerbi as their leading candidate to take charge immediately.

“Spurs face a huge fight to avoid relegation after losing at home to Nottingham Forest, but that has not stopped the club trying to put plans in place for their survival.

“This includes, as first revealed by Telegraph Sport earlier this month, holding talks with De Zerbi, who is out of work having left Marseille by mutual consent in February.

“Tottenham are entering the final stages of their hunt for a new sporting director with Sebastian Kehl the latest candidate to emerge for the post. Kehl left the same role at Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.”

The article added that Mauricio Pochettino could also make a return to Tottenham, who sit precariously close to the relegation zone, after Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

According to Pete O'Rourke – transfer correspondent for Footy Insider – Spurs are trying to convince De Zerbi to ‘take the job now rather than at the end of the season’.

The situation has since gathered further momentum following an update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who reported: BREAKING: Roberto De Zerbi is open to taking the Tottenham Hotspur job permanently if they remain in the Premier League, reports Telegraph.”
