Crystal Palace are doing the ex-Manchester United defender a favour at the moment

Ex-Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is ‘training’ with Crystal Palace, as per a report by the Daily Mail. The 28-year-old is a free agent and is keeping up his fitness levels with the Eagles. He last played for Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.

The Eagles are back in action after the international break with their Europa Conference League first leg clash against Fiorentina. Oliver Glasner’s side are sat in 14th place in the Premier League table. They have only eight fixtures left to play before the end of the season.

Fosu-Mensah started his career at Ajax before moving over to England as a youngster in 2014 to join Manchester United. He subsequently rose up through the academy at Old Trafford. The former Holland international, who made three caps before 2018, was a regular for the Red Devils at various different youth levels as a teenager.

The Amsterdam-born man went on to play 30 games for the first-team of the top flight giants. In addition, he was also loaned out to Crystal Palace and Fulham to get some experience under his belt away from the North West to boost his development. He then left on a permanent basis in 2020.

He linked up with Leverkusen and spent four years in Germany. However, he struggled to keep fit with the Bundesliga club and didn’t get much game time. He played only 30 matches before he cut ties with them and he hasn’t been able to find a new home since.

In an interview in 2020, he opened up about his transfer to United from Ajax and said: "For a young boy, it was a big step. I made the decision and at the end of the day I’m happy with that decision. How was it for me? Well, when I came the first day, it was very different. The only thing I knew was Amsterdam and the only thing I knew was Ajax. Here, everything is just different. The lads made me feel very welcome.”
