Report: Man Utd scouts watch Luke Shaw successor, his teammate also catches the eye

Manchester United scouts have been on a trip recently to watch Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, while another player was also on the radar.

This summer, Manchester United could be preparing to improve at left-back, with this season leaving no doubts that an upgrade on Luke Shaw is needed.

Shaw has enjoyed a good season for United, but as a left-back, his quality is capped due to his deficiencies in athleticism at this point in his career.

So now, Nathaniel Brown has emerged as a target for United this summer, along with his teammate.

Manchester United watch Nathaniel Brown and Hugo Larsson

It is according to the Daily Mail that United scouts were in Germany recently, with Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown the subject of interest.

Scouts watched Frankfurt against Heidenheim on March 14th, with the defender playing well and showing why he is so highly rated.

But while Brown was the main focus of this trip, United were also keeping watch of Hugo Larsson, who is Brown’s midfield teammate, and scouts were assessing him.

Larsson is wanted by numerous Premier League clubs in the summer, and United are among the clubs monitoring his progress.

Both are talented young players with potential to be great signings. But United need to be aiming higher than Larsson, but Brown could be a great addition.

Manchester United should be seriously considering Brown swoop

With left-back considered a position in which United need to strengthen, Brown is among the very best options on the market.

Considered a current-day Joao Cancelo in his style, Brown is excellent on the ball, which sees him capable of being deployed as an inverted right-back but also excellent going forward down the left.

Brown would offer United the overlapping, athletic, and technically gifted left-back needed, while he is defensively solid as well.

As per the Bundesliga website, Frankfurt’s sporting director Timmo Hardung praised Brown for his dynamism, which makes him perfect for United.

“Nathaniel is a very talented and dynamic player who, despite his young age, gives off a very mature impression on and off the pitch. He fits our desired profile perfectly, and we’re delighted he’s joining us next season.”

United would have to spend big, but looked at the options around him, he might be the very best United can sign this summer, with his injury record giving him the edge on Lewis Hall.
