Man Utd sources issue update on Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali

Newcastle United were adamant last week that no agreement was in place between Bruno Guimaraes and Manchester United.

Rumours around a meeting having taken place between representatives from Manchester United and Bruno Guimaraes kicked off last week, originating from Brazil.

No sooner had the news started to spread, though, than it had been shut down as Newcastle United sources confirmed that they knew nothing about any such talks.

That seemed to be the end of it until Fabrizio Romano parroted the claims on his YouTube channel, which seemingly provoked a reaction from Bruno’s agent, who appeared to question the rumours.

The Daily Mail’s Manchester United experts Chris Wheeler and Nathan Salt published their Manchester United Confidential column which provided an interesting update on things from a Manchester perspective.

They claim that Manchester United will not be making a move for Guimaraes in the summer as they look to replace Casemiro, but it wasn’t all good news as they do say that Sandro Tonali is of interest.

“Although [Manchester] United have an interest in Tonali, it’s understood that they would be unlikely to move for his Newcastle team-mate Bruno Guimaraes.

“Sources have dismissed speculation that talks are at an advanced stage, and Newcastle are said to be determined to keep the Brazilian.”

So it’s potentially good news regarding Bruno, although we were never convinced that our captain would leave us for another Premier League side.

Sandro Tonali, however, doesn’t have the same strong connection to the club, and we do worry about his immediate future.

The problem is, Tonali is so laid back and gives very little away with his emotions, it’s so hard to get a gauge of where his head is at. Club insiders insist he’s happy and committed, but this is the lad who left AC Milan to come here.

It seems that no move is off the table for the Italian if he thinks it will progress his career, which we’re not having a go at him for, obviously, we’re just concerned what it means for the summer.
