Mauricio Pochettino drops biggest hint yet on a possible Tottenham return as Tudor exit looms

Igor Tudor remains winless for Tottenham in the Premier League.

Tottenham have been enduring a difficult season at Hotspur Way already, and while many hoped for a turnaround in the six-pointer of a game against Nottingham Forest last weekend, the game took a turn for the worse as the North Londoners ended up on the losing side, and you could see the dismay of it unfolding in the faces of the supporters in the stands.

That performance screamed a reset at Hotspur Way, not only in terms of the head coach or his staff but also in terms of culture and how things are operating behind the scenes. And one person who knew the know-how of culture at N17 and had successfully managed the side was a certain Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine head coach has been linked with a romantic return to Hotspur Way.

The Lilywhites had a difficult afternoon against Nottingham Forest last weekend in the Premier League, and that in itself was enough to show how far Spurs have fallen as that gap with the drop zone continues to widen. This has put Igor Tudor in a position that might see him relieved of his duties at Hotspur Way as the conversations in the media continue to show the momentum of a shift to a managerial appointment at N17.

Pochettino admits he misses England amid Tottenham rumors

This is where Pochettino comes into the picture once again. And in a recent candid interview, the Argentine who enjoyed a successful time at Tottenham admitted that he misses England. This in itself has got Spurs supporters excited about the prospects of having him back on the touchline at N17.

Speaking in an interview with l’Equipe, he said, possibly dropping the biggest hint yet on a return to Tottenham (via. GMS): “I miss the world of football in England. I love the country, its culture, the football culture. For anyone with a competitive spirit who wants to measure themselves against others and test their limits, it’s the ideal place. Here, you have to give your best constantly.”

While Poch is set to go into the upcoming World Cup with USMNT duties on his plate, there is a high chance that he comes back to Tottenham once that international tournament is concluded.

That being said, Pochettino is not the only head coach linked with Tottenham, with Roberto de Zerbi being another high-profile name who could end up at Hotspur Way in the off-season.

But for now, the Lilywhites have to bring someone in for the interim role at Hotspur Way until the end of the season, given that either Pochettino or De Zerbi will not be willing to take charge of the proceedings till the campaign goes into the off-season. And that is where the chiefs at Spurs have a decision to make: whether they continue with Tudor at the helm or bring someone else who can take over till a more long-term decision is made.
