Jurgen Klopp's past comments on Jarrod Bowen are interesting as Liverpool are linked again

Fresh off the back of the Mohamed Salah exit news, Jarrod Bowen has been linked as a possible replacement for the Egyptian.

Liverpool will target wingers in the summer on the back of Salah leaving, and a seven-man list of potential options has been shared, which includes West Ham United standout Bowen.

The Englishman has been shining for the Hammers for some time now, and Jurgen Klopp has previously called him an ‘unbelievable’ player.

Jurgen Klopp called Jarrod Bowen an ‘unbelievable’ player

The now 29-year-old made the move to East London from Hull City in 2020.

After a prolific start to life with the Hammers, a report in The Athletic suggested Liverpool liked the look of the player during the 2021/22 season.

In the same campaign, Klopp had high praise for Bowen when speaking at a pre-West Ham press conference on March 4, 2022.

He said: “Bowen – what a player he became. Unbelievable. We saw him as well at Hull and he was really good.

Jarrod Bowen stats compared to Mohamed Salah

In total, he has managed to score a total of 84 goals and provide 58 assists across all competitions for West Ham.

Even in 2025/26, when the London-based outfit are on the verge of being relegated to the Championship, Bowen still has 10 goals and seven assists in 34 games.

Salah has also notched the same number of appearances in all competitions this term, missing part of the season while competing at the AFCON.

In said tie, he has matched Bowen’s goal tally and provided an extra two assists for Liverpool.

Salah may have fallen off by his usual high standards, but the fact that the West Ham man is essentially matching him in 2025/26 despite playing in a much worse team is still impressive.
