Manchester United’s midfield search narrowed to three priorities
Over the past six months, Manchester United have been linked with countless midfielders. This includes reported advanced talks to sign Bruno Guimaraes, which has since had cold water poured on it.
But now, the Daily Mail has claimed United have cut the midfield shortlist down to three priority names.
Sandro Tonali
Elliot Anderson
Adam Wharton
Three Premier League proven midfielders, and of the three, all would bring immense qualities to the club.

United have been linked with a move to sign Tonali, with the Italian set to be the sacrificial lamb for Newcastle to avoid financial problems.
The undisputed top target on the market this summer is Anderson; however, signing the Forest star would be tricky with Manchester City and Bayern Munich both interested.
The final name on the three-man list is Wharton, who many are concerned wouldn’t fit into a pairing with Kobbie Mainoo. However, if United intend to build a possession-dominant side, Wharton is the ideal choice.

Carlos Baleba now considered on a different list entirely for Manchester United
In recent months, the three major names haven’t changed too much, with Tonali for Carlos Baleba the only real modification to the first-choice list.
The Cameroonian has had a bad season for Brighton, struggling with the pressure of being linked to United, which will have driven his price tag down.
Now, Nathan Salt has claimed Baleba is seen on a different list, being considered as the ‘second’ midfield signing.
“Carlos Baleba out of the picture now?” one fan asked after the report. To which Salt responded, “Latter”.
Baleba would be a brilliant second midfield signing, added without the pressure of performing immediately, which will benefit his development.
