Negotiations expected to begin–Very cheeky deal for Manchester United player wanted

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır

Beşiktaş are working on a transfer for Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır in the summer window.

The Turkey international hasn’t enjoyed regular minutes since joining the Red Devils for £4.3m [€5m] from Fenerbahçe in September 2023. Earlier in that window, Manchester United had signed André Onana from Inter Milan.

Onana was the No.1 for the past two seasons, restricting the 27-year-old’s minutes at Old Trafford.

Bayındır was ahead of Onana in the Premier League at the start of this season. The latter made one appearance in the EFL Cup before a loan move to Trabzonspor.

The Turkey international’s Premier League stats from this season are as follows.

Appearances: 6

Starts: 6

Clean sheets: 0

Goals conceded: 11

Manchester United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on summer deadline day and he has been the No.1 since October. Bayındır dropped to the bench and Beşiktaş tried to sign him in January.

Beşiktaş showed serious interest in a loan move in the winter market. Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that the English club pulled the plug at the last minute.

Still keen on Manchester United player

The January disappointment won’t put off the Black Eagles from pursuing the goalkeeper again for the summer.

Sporx cover the latest on their interest in the Manchester United player and their plan. The Istanbul club are looking to sign five players for next season, and the main targets are Altay Bayındır and Borussia Dortmund’s Salih Özcan.

Beşiktaş manager Sergen Yalçın has given his approval for these two targets. We focus on what the report has to say about the Manchester United stopper, who has less than 18 months on his contract.

Due to the restricted role, there’s expectation for the player to leave in the next window. This should please the Süper Lig side, who have him as their main stopper target.

Beşiktaş now want him for free and will begin negotiations with the Premier League side with regards to this.

Why Manchester United won’t sanction free transfer

On February 25th, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey that Manchester United are willing to let him leave for €5m.

The source mentioned an agreement between the clubs for the player to join Beşiktaş in the summer. However, Sporx now report of a free transfer.

It’s worth noting Turkish clubs often try their luck to sign players for nothing. In this case, it’s highly unlikely the Red Devils will let Altay Bayındır leave for free.

Michael Carrick’s side have confirmed his contract lasts until 2027, with an option for another year. Transfermarkt value him at €7m.

Taking his value and recent claim of the €5m demand into account, it makes no sense for the Premier League club to sanction a free transfer. Beşiktaş can try but are unlikely to succeed.

Again, such a cheeky effort isn’t unusual, and Manchester United need to be strong in negotiations.
