Martin Dubravka (Slovakia), Axel Tuanzebe (DR Congo) and Armando Broja (Albania) are all in play-off action over the next couple of weeks.

Dubravka’s Slovakia host Kosovo on Thursday in their semi-final tie and will host either Turkey or Romania should they progress to the decider.

Tuanzebe, meanwhile, will be hoping to recover from the Achilles injury that has kept him out of action since the start of February to help Congo reach the World Cup for the first time since 1974 (when they were known as Zaire).

They await the winners of the semi-final clash of New Caledonia and Jamaica, who face off this Friday. The deciding clash, meanwhile, takes place Tuesday.

Broja will also be hoping to help Albania edge past Poland in their semi-final play-off in Warsaw on Thursday to set up a final with either Ukraine or Sweden.

A handful of other Clarets have already helped their nations seal qualification for this summer’s tournament, which gets underway in the USA, Canada and Mexico in June.

While not involved this month, the likes of Connor Roberts (Wales), Josh Cullen (Republic of Ireland) and Jacob Bruun Larsen (Denmark) will also be keeping a keen eye on their countries respective play-offs.

Hannibal (Tunisia) and Lyle Foster (South Africa) will both be at the tournament, assuming they’re fit and selected, while Shurandy Sambo – currently out on loan with Sparta Rotterdam – is part of the Curacao side that became the smallest side to ever reach the World Cup.

If Zeki Amdouni can get back to full fitness between now and the end of the season, he’ll also be hoping to earn a late recall to the Switzerland squad.

Quilindschy Hartman also faces an outside chance of getting back in the Netherlands setup now he’s back in the fold with Burnley.

There will be no sixth major tournament for Kyle Walker, however, after the right-back recently announced his international retirement from England.
