Mo Salah has announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Ally McCoist has suggested that a Premier League player could be the ideal replacement for Mo Salah at Liverpool.

Salah has announced he will depart the Reds at the end of the season. Despite being under contract under 2027, Liverpool have agreed to bring the curtain down on the winger’s nine-year Anfield career.

Salah has established legendary status at Liverpool. He has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on the club’s all-time scoring charts, and heled the Reds win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups.

While Salah’s form has dropped this campaign, Liverpool have a huge void to fill on the right-hand side of their attack. The Reds have been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

But the Anfield hierarchy look at the Premier League for a possible replacement for Salah. Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United is a boyhood Liverpool fan who came close to joining in 2024.

However, McCoist reckons that West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen could be the ideal successor for Salah. Bowen could be available should the Hammers suffer Premier League relegation.

Rangers legend McCoist said on talkSPORT: “I'll throw a name at you. The West Ham fans will hate me for saying it but if West Ham go down, what about Jarrod Bowen?

I'm a massive fan of Jarrod Bowen. I love him every time I go and watch West Ham. Clearly, they have got a big fight on their hands to stay up and if they don't stay up, you'd maybe suggest they will lose one or two of their best players. He could play for Liverpool in that side.”

Bowen is under contract at West Ham until 2030. If the London Stadium side fail to avoid the drop, it is likely that they will have to sell some of their prized assets. Bowen has been West Ham’s talisman for several years, recording 84 goals and 58 assists in 272 outings - helping them win the Europa Conference League in 2023.
