Men: Man Utd waive clause in player’s deal to allow him to leave this summer rather than 2027,…

Manchester United have opted to waive a clause in Casemiro’s contract in order to allow him to start all seven remaining Premier League fixtures before he departs.

The original term in his deal meant that an automatic one-year extension would’ve been triggered had he started a minimum of 35 top-flight games this season, despite the midfielder announcing himself that he would be leaving in the summer.

Casemiro to play final seven games before bidding farewell

Now, however, United and Casemiro can navigate the remainder of the campaign with peace of mind that his deal will expire in June.

All parties were in agreement that this year was the right time to draw the curtains on the veteran’s Red Devils tenure, which started back in 2022 when Erik ten Hag was at the reins.

Casemiro’s form has fluctuated on numerous occasions since then, but he can leave holding his head high, having left a lasting impression on the club and supporters for his stalwart efforts in the middle of the park.

What next for Casemiro?

It remains to be seen where he will look to ply his trade next, and whether his Old Trafford stint will mark the end of his illustrious European career.

With how he’s performed for United this term, there’s no doubt that the 34-year-old will still be a serious coup for any sides wanting some experience and stability in their ranks.

Casemiro’s seven league goals thus far are the most he’s ever returned in a single campaign, and there are still opportunities for him to add to his tally before May.

Aside from the Brazilian, Harry Maguire is another Red currently overseeing his final three months on the books, although reports have suggested both he and the club are keen to continue for at least another 12 months.
