Nottingham Forest will face stiff competition if they try to lure Santiago Castro from Bologna.

That’s according to Italian website Tuttosport which says Forest have ‘expressed interest’ in the 21-year-old striker.

Forest were first linked with the Argentine in the January transfer window with Gazzetta dello Sport saying they had scouted Castro.

It seems they aren’t the only onces, AC Milan watched Bologna's loss to Lazio on Sunday as they consider their next move for a forward.

The story says Bologna's asking price is in the region of €40 million for a player who has four years remaining on his contract.

Castro has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons at Bologna, having joined them from Velez Sarsfield in January 2024. Since then he has scored 22 times in 95 games, including 11 from 41 this season. He recently scored in the 4-3 win at Roma which put Bologna through to the quarter finals of the Europa League, with Forest.

West Ham have also been linked with the Premier League clubs’ 'financial strength' said to be an advantage in any deals for Castro.
