Casemiro strikes agreement with Man Utd to cancel 35-match contract clause

Casemiro has already confirmed his Manchester United exit and he has also agreed to waive one of the clauses in his current contract.

It was confirmed back in January that Casemiro will leave Manchester United in the summer when his contract expires.

The Brazilian is bowing out in fashion, with Casemiro enjoying his highest-scoring season in his career to date.

While United fans want Casemiro to stay, the 34-year-old looks set to depart, and his latest contract decision confirms it.

Casemiro agrees to cancel Man United contract clause

According to Manchester Evening News, Casemiro reached an agreement with United to cancel a clause in his contract that would have triggered a one-year extension.

There was a clause in Casemiro’s deal that would have added a year to his contract if he started 35 Premier League matches this season.

Casemiro has already started 28 Premier League matches this season, only missing two games through suspension and coming on as a substitute once against Manchester City.

With seven Premier League games remaining in the schedule, it means that Casemiro is on track to exactly hit that 35-match figure if he starts every remaining game.

The Brazilian has started in every match under Michael Carrick this season.

Casemiro can now get deserved Man United send-off

Because Casemiro has agreed to scrap his contract clause, it means that he can carry his momentum into the final games of the season.

Otherwise, Carrick would have strategically had to leave Casemiro out of the starting line-up to avoid triggering an extension to his £350,000 per week contract.

With United chasing Champions League qualification, Carrick will want Casemiro available for the run-in.

It also means the Brazilian can get the send-off he deserves. United’s final match at Old Trafford is against Nottingham Forest on 17 May.
