The agent of Benjamin Sesko has pushed back strongly against suggestions that the striker is best suited to an impact role at Manchester United, insisting his client should be viewed as a “super striker” rather than a “super-sub.
Šeško, who arrived at Manchester United with high expectations, has often found himself used from the bench in recent weeks despite showing flashes of his potential. The striker has contributed important goals as a substitute, earning praise for his ability to influence games late on—but also raising questions about his long-term role in the starting XI.
In comments reported across European media, the striker’s representative made clear that the current narrative surrounding Šeško is not one they accept. The agent argued that while his client has delivered in limited minutes, labelling him a “super-sub” risks undervaluing his broader capabilities as a leading centre-forward.
‘If you ask me about this name, I don’t like it,’ his agent Elvis Basanovic told Arena Sport.
‘I like ‘super striker’ much more. I think Benjamin is a super striker. He has started 13 games this year, coming off the bench in 13 games.
‘He scored half of his goals when he started the game and half when he came off the bench. We can see that he is a complete striker and Benjamin is someone who deserves the name “super striker”.
Šeško’s situation reflects a wider tactical debate within the club. Under interim boss Michael Carrick, United have often opted for fluid attacking systems, rotating forwards depending on opposition and match context. While this approach has brought improved results, it has also limited Šeško’s opportunities to establish himself as a consistent starter.
Despite this, the Slovenian international’s underlying performances have been encouraging. His combination of pace, aerial presence, and direct running has added a different dimension to Manchester United’s attack, particularly in matches where space opens up late on.
The debate comes at a time when external criticism—most notably from Michael Owen—has questioned whether Šeško can lead the line for a title-challenging side, further intensifying scrutiny on the young forward
For now, his agent’s comments serve as a clear message: Šeško is not content to be seen as a rotational option—and believes he has the tools to become United’s main man up front.
