Leeds United have shown the type of spirit and competitive nature in recent months to give them every chance of navigating away from the relegation zone, says Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman.

The former player has been full of praise for the way Leeds have approached games in recent months, pointing to the competitive nature of the matches that Daniel Farke's side have been unable to win, while also highlighting the spirit and desire shown in games such as at Crystal Palace when the Whites went down to 10-men and still picked up a point away from home.

It's left Leeds with every chance of staying up as they sit in 15th place in the Premier League, four points clear of West Ham United in 18th place.

"I think any team that is only four points above the relegation zone has to be worried. But I really love the spirit they have shown since the end of November, said Goodman, speaking to Grosvenor Casinos.

"That second-half against Man City, when they changed formation, was a turning point, and they haven’t really looked back since. They have lost the odd game here and there, but overall, they have been extremely competitive.

“Playing with ten men for half a game in the Premier League, away at Crystal Palace, and not losing epitomised that. That is outstanding. Of course, the teams below them have tightened up as well. West Ham have improved, there are signs that Nottingham Forest are getting better, and Spurs managed to get a point at Anfield when nobody expected it.

“It is an incredible battle for the final relegation spot. Assuming Wolves and Burnley are probably gone, Leeds, who are fifth or sixth from bottom, have four remaining games against teams below them. That includes Wolves and Burnley at home, and West Ham and Spurs away. I think they have enough quality and enough opportunity to get the points they need to survive.”
