Manchester United have been in discussions to sign an "electric" player, who recently turned down a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Man Utd hold talks to sign Luke Shaw rival
Luke Shaw has endured his fair share of injury problems during his time at Man United, missing a total of 54 matches across the previous two campaigns, but the left-back has re-established himself as an important player this season.
Indeed, the 30-year-old has featured in all 31 of United's Premier League games this term, moving back to a left-back role since the arrival of Michael Carrick as interim manager.
Carrick recently backed the Englishman to earn a place in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire, saying: "I haven't been in touch [with Tuchel]. For the boys, I'd love to see them picked for this one and for the summer.

"I don't have any influence on that, but the way they're playing, they have put themselves in the picture and given themselves a chance. They are playing well enough to warrant a place."
However, the Red Devils have set their sights on a new left-back ahead of the summer transfer window, with it being revealed they are plotting the signing of Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, and there has now been a new update on their pursuit of the defender.
Man Utd hold talks to sign Davies
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Man United have now held talks with intermediaries about a deal for Davies, who has also been offered to Liverpool and a number of other top Premier League sides, despite signing a new Bayern contract back in February.
Having recently recovered from an ACL injury, the Canadian is back to full fitness, and the Red Devils have been in discussions to make him a statement signing, as they want to bring in competition for Shaw.
The 25-year-old rejected a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer, and should he decide to leave Bayern, the Premier League is now his most likely destination.
Given Shaw's injury problems over the years, bringing in another left-back who struggles on that front could be a risk, with the Canada international suffering ACL and hamstring issues in recent memory.
However, on his day the £250k-a-week defender has the ability to push for Shaw's starting spot, particularly impressing from an attacking point of view during his time with Bayern, registering 14 goals and 37 assists in 239 outings.

Lauded as "electric" by scout Ben Mattinson and as the "Usain Bolt of football" by Rio Ferdinand, the full-back also showcased his defensive attributes in a 3-2 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt last month, winning six of the nine ground duels he contested.
Davies could be an exciting signing for Man United, but Bayern are in a strong negotiating position, given that he recently agreed a new contract which lasts until 2030.
