Andy Mitten explains how Adam Wharton's agent could be key to£70m Man United move

Manchester United have been linked with Adam Wharton and Andy Mitten has explained why his agent could help push a move to Old Trafford.

According to recent reports, Adam Wharton is one of three top targets for Manchester United’s midfield rebuild in the summer.

Ineos are looking for an ideal partner for Kobbie Mainoo in midfield and England teammate Adam Wharton is one of the leading candidates.

Wharton dreams of Champions League football and United can provide that if Michael Carrick stays on track for a top-five finish.

Wharton has a price tag of £70m this summer if he is to leave Palace, and Andy Mitten has explained why he could end up at Old Trafford.

“As for Wharton, he’s seen as a more realistic option, not from inside the club, but his situation fits, with his agent based in Manchester and him being a Lancashire lad.”

Did Adam Wharton just end his chances of signing for Man United with that performance?

Man United have already worked with Adam Wharton’s agent

Wharton’s agent is James Featherstone of OmniSports who, as Mitten points out, hails from Lancashire and is based in Manchester.

Interestingly, United have already worked with OmniSports through former player Chris Smalling.

Smalling signed with Omnisports in 2017 during his time with United. Two years later, Smalling joined Roma on loan and then signed with the Italian club permanently.

If United do make a move for Wharton this summer, transfer chiefs will be working with Featherstone and OmniSports to finalise a deal.
