West Ham 'encourage' fans to support 34-goal former striker's non-league adventure

West Ham supporters may be wondering where to get their football fix this weekend as there are no Premier League games.

The business end of the season has been halted by the March international break, with the Hammers’ next game on 5 April.

The club have now “encouraged” supporters to watch another team as they wait for top-flight football to return.

An interesting option would be to attend ex-West Ham striker Andy Carroll’s second game in charge of Dagenham & Redbridge.

West Ham suggest watching Andy Carroll’s Dagenham & Redbridge

West Ham have informed supporters that Non-League Day will take place on Saturday, 28 March.

Premier League and Championship fans will be welcome at non-League clubs across the country during the international break.

“West Ham United is encouraging supporters to get their live football fix from lower league clubs in the local community on Non-League Day, in collaboration with Prostate Cancer UK,” a statement read on the West Ham website.

The first suggestion was to support former Hammers goalscorer Andy Carroll in his new role at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Carroll joined Dag & Red on a three-year deal as a player last summer, but he is now an interim manager at the National League South club.

He won his first match in charge last weekend with a late winner in a 1-0 victory over Torquay United.

The former England international will lead Dag & Red again on Saturday as they take on Hampton & Richmond Borough.

However, West Ham supporters have many other non-league games to choose from, including Braintree Town against Carlisle United.

Braintree have two young Hammers on loan: goalkeeper Mason Terry and right-back Ryan Battrum.
