Plans to sell Crowlands Heath Golf Course in Rush Green for housing are set to be confirmed by Barking and Dagenham Council leaders.
A company called Homes For Life plans to buy the golf course from the council to build over 1,000 homes. Members of the cabinet are set to approve the sale next week. Proposals say the council received “no objections” to the sale during a public consultation, which would have included West Ham football club.
The local council currently owns the entire golf course at Rush Green, but leases it to Crowlands Heath Golf Club. Homes For Life asked to buy the land from the council last year, having already reached an agreement with the club.

West Ham’s ‘somewhat dated” training facility at Rush Green
Two-thirds of the new houses, which are in the borough of Havering, include 1,106 homes. Roughly 230 of the homes would be on the Dagenham side of the site. Proposals also include a supermarket, a lakeside community space or cafe and a “green” foot and cycle path through the development.
Will it prove too tempting for West Ham’s owners to ignore the possibility of development at their dilapidated training facility adjacent to the site, we wonder?
