Odd rumour now emerges about Beto following his comments after Everton 3-0 Chelsea (opinion)

Beto is the man of the moment at Everton after his heroics in a 3-0 win over Chelsea last time out.

The Guinea-Bissau international was the star of the show as David Moyes watched his Everton side tear Chelsea apart at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, scoring twice and also assisting Iliman Ndiaye in what was an outstanding performance.

However, Turkish news outlet SOK have now provided an update on Beto which is equally as baffling as it is concerning.

Should Everton actually be getting Beto tied down to a new contract? 🤔

He'll only have a year left this summer…

Beto allegedly snubs new contract at Everton

The article states that Fenerbahce – who wanted Beto in January – are now on red alert after hearing that the Everton No.9 has refused the offer of a new contract on Merseyside.

Once the season ends, the 28-year-old will only have 12 months remaining on his contract, meaning Everton would be likely to cash in if he did actually refuse a new deal.

However, we are slightly sceptical about the report from SOK considering what Beto said after the 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday.

The man born in Lisbon spoke about his deep love for Everton after that memorable victory, telling the official Everton FC website: “For me, it’s special (to play for Everton). It’s a God gift. I asked for little things and He gave me this. He gave me this opportunity to be here and be the number nine at the club… I’m just blessed to be here.”

Does that sound like a man who would reject a new contract at Everton? Not in our eyes.

SOK could potentially mean Beto is just unhappy with what Everton have put on the table, but does intend to stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – although this isn’t made clear in the report.

Who should Everton be keeping and letting go this summer? 🫣

With doubts over Thierno Barry as well after the Frenchman was booed during the win over Chelsea, it very much feels as if one striker will be leaving Everton this summer, at least.
