'West Ham fans will hate me’: Ally McCoist makes unpopular Jarrod Bowen claim

Popular pundit and commentator Ally McCoist has just made an unpopular remark about Jarrod Bowen’s West Ham future.

The Rangers legend has suggested that Bowen could leave the Hammers this summer amid interest from Liverpool.

Even though McCoist was full of praise for the right-winger, West Ham supporters are unlikely to enjoy reading his comments.

Would you rather sell Bowen or Summerville this summer?

Ally McCoist suggests Liverpool sign Jarrod Bowen

Bowen has been linked with a summer transfer move to Liverpool as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Salah has agreed to leave at the end of the season, creating an opening on the right side of the Reds’ front three.

Liverpool have been linked with many wingers around the world, but McCoist has encouraged them to sign Bowen.

“I’ll throw a name at you,” he said on talkSPORT. “The West Ham fans will hate me for saying it, but if West Ham go down, what about Jarrod Bowen?

“I’m a massive fan of Jarrod Bowen. I’ve got to say, I love him. Anytime I go and watch West Ham… clearly, they’ve got a big fight on their hands to stay up.

“And if they didn’t stay up, you would maybe suggest they’d lose one or two of their best players. He could play for Liverpool in that side.”

The West Ham winger is having a slightly underwhelming 2025/26 season, with 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

However, English football fans will know that he has been one of the most consistent forwards in the Premier League for years.

West Ham might have found Jarrod Bowen’s protege… 🇨🇱 💫

But do we need one?

Chile's forward #22 Dario Osorio celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the friendly football match between France and Chile at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, southern France, on March 26, 2024.

Liverpool would have to pay a significant transfer fee to pry him away from East London, but he could be worth it.

Meanwhile, West Ham will be hoping that Arne Slot’s side prioritise another player rather than trying to turn Bowen’s head.
