Burnley man makes return from injury ahead of crunch World Cup decider

The defender has been out of action with an Achilles problem since the start of February, with his last appearance coming during the 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.

The 28-year-old has since recovered though and was permitted to link up with Congo for their pivotal March international break.

The African nation face a winner-takes-all play-off decider next week against the winner of New Caledonia against Jamaica, who face one another overnight.

Should Congo quality, it will be their first World Cup appearance since 1974, when they were known as Zaire.

In preparation, Congo took on Bermunda last night in friendly action, with Tuanzebe’s side running out 2-0 winners.

Details of the game are sketchy, so it’s unknown how long he played for, but Tuanzebe started the fixture.

Congo ran out 2-0 winners thanks to a penalty from Newcastle United forward Yoane Wissa and a Fiston Mayele strike.

Should Tuanzebe come through the international window unscathed, he will be looking to reclaim his spot in Burnley’s defence alongside Maxime Esteve.

That place is currently occupied by Bashir Humphreys, with the likes of Hjalmar Ekdal and Joe Worrall also waiting in reserve.
