Ange Postecoglou looking for summer return to management

Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has spoken candidly about what he is looking for in his next managerial role following his departure from Nottingham Forest earlier this season…

The Australian was dismissed by the Premier League outfit after a brief 39-day spell in charge and has since taken up a position with UEFA as a technical observer.

Despite settling into his new duties, Postecoglou has made it clear his ambitions in management remain strong, particularly with a desire to return to the European stage.

After difficult periods with both Tottenham and Forest, he is keen to secure another opportunity and replicate the kind of success he previously achieved at Celtic and elsewhere.

However, the 58-year-old outlined the importance of timing, revealing that his next role must begin at the start of a season rather than midway through a campaign.

Speaking via SEN, he said: “I’ve figured out that for me to do what I do, the start of pre-season is a good starting point, Jumping in mid-season – especially in the Premier League but in most leagues – is just probably too much of a challenge for the way I do things. That’s what I’m holding out for.

“Where that is and what it looks like is hard to say at the moment, but I haven’t even scratched the surface of what I want to do over here yet and the impact I want to make, the football I want to play.

“I want to win things still. I still have that drive and passion to achieve, that hasn’t changed. The fact now it’s the first time I’m coming off a bad experience – that’s just more fuel for me.”

“Wherever I go in there will be plenty of scepticism – that’s brilliant, that’s what I need. Get the gloves, put the helmet on again on and go really hard.”
