Man United 2-3 Bayern Munich: UWCL Post-Match Player Ratings

The midweek fixture saw Manchester United take on Bayern Munich at home in the first leg of the UEFA Women’sChampions League**** quarter final.

Despite goals from captain Maya Le Tissier and right back Hanna Lundkvist, the home side were unable to secure the win, with Bayern’s goals coming from former Chelsea player Pernille Harder scoring a brace, followed by the winning goal in the final 10 minutes by 20 year-old Momoko Tanikawa.

If **United**are to advance to the semi final, they will need to put out a stronger defence in next week’s away leg.

The winning team will face either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the semi final of the tournament. As it stands, Barcelona will be the side to progress after winning their fixture 2-6 yesterday.

Manchester United Starting XI

Phallon Tullis-Joyce - 6

The goalkeeper was unable to secure a clean sheet, conceding early in the game.

Hanna Lundkvist - 8

The Swedish international prevented an early goal from Franziska Kett, but was not able to maintain possession at times.

Lundkvist also capitalised from a corner in the second half, resulting in her first Champions League goal.

Maya Le Tissier - 8

The home side’s captain and centre back had a hard task keeping up with attacks from Danish international Harder, resulting in two of the opposition’s goals.

Despite this, Le Tissier had several strong moments throughout the fixture, notably scoring the 24th minute penalty equaliser.

Millie Turner - 5

The 29 year-old defender was unable to intercept **Bayern Munich**’s second goal, and a risky pass back to Tullis-Joyce in the first 20 minutes almost resulted in an own goal.

Fridolina Rolfö - 5

Rolfö was unable to make a huge impact during the first 45 minutes, but took a number of corners in the second half.

Julia Zigiotti Olme - 7

The Swedish midfielder made several attempts to shoot, however ultimately failed to make her way onto the scoresheet.

Despite this, Zigiotti Olme made good runs and key passes throughout the game.

Hinata Miyazawa - 6

The Japanese international did not make any significant impact on the game, but put out a consistent performance having played in the Asian Cup final just four days prior to the fixture.

Lisa Naalsund - 6

Naalsund had a number of strong moments including a positive run in the first 20 minutes but was tackled before she was able to shoot.

Jess Park - 6

Despite quickly becoming a key asset to United this season and making some clinical passes, the lioness had an uneventful game and was unable to make a significant impact.

Lea Schüller - 6

Facing her former side, Schüller made a couple of attempts on goal before she was subbed off in the 76th minute.

Melvine Malard - 7

The French forward made impressive passes and attempts at goal, notably making a key cross to Schüller at the end of the first half, however was unable to score.

Substitutes

Jayde Riviere - 5

The Canadian defender came on for Schüller in the final 20 minutes and had very few opportunities to influence the game.

Simi Awujo - 6

After being subbed in for Miyazawa in the 75th minute, Awujo made some good passes.
