A Leeds United youngster has helped England’s under-17s to a Euros qualification success.

A young Leeds United defender played a key role for England’s under-17s in helping them to an opening Euros qualification success.

Sixteen-year-old centre-back Jake Howard has already progressed from United’s under-18s to under-21s team this season and the defender is part of the current England under-17s squad.

The young Three Lions began their UEFA European Championship qualification campaign on Wednesday with a clash against the Faroe Islands at St George’s Park in which Howard was given a start at the heart of the defence.

Full duration in just fourth outing

In just his fourth appearance for England’s under-17s, Howard played the full duration of the match in which his side registered a comfortable 3-0 success for a perfect start to their Euros qualification campaign.

The young Three Lions will remain at St George’s Park to face Israel on Saturday in their second Euros qualifier.
