Kai Rooney has issued a statement to confirm that he will miss the rest of the season for Manchester United's Under-16s. The teenager is one of United’s most promising academy talents.
The son of United's all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney, the 16-year-old has made great progress at Carrington this season. Rooney won the Premier League Shield with United's Under-16s on Tuesday.
Michael Carrick’s son, Jacey Carrick, also featured in the 2-0 win over Burnley. But he is now set for a lengthy period on the sidelines due to injury.
Posting on his Instagram stories, he said: "Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season," followed by a love heart emoji.
