Liverpool and Manchester United could battle to sign Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu in the summer.

The centre-back’s rise at Juventus caught several clubs’ attention, including Liverpool and Manchester United.

In August 2024, he initially joined the Serie A side from AC Milan in a €3m loan with an option to buy.

Kalulu played 43 matches, and his form convinced Juve to exercise the €14m purchase clause to buy him.

The decision has paid off as he’s already played 3,661 minutes from 41 matches, operating as a centre-back and at times as a right-back. His Serie A statistics per game are as follows:

The 25-year-old’s performances have seen Liverpool, Manchester United and other clubs take notice.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed news that Arne Slot’s side and the Red Devils are in the mix to sign him. The same source also reported his summer sale depends on offers.

Liverpool and Manchester United keen

Il Giornale pick up on that cover the latest on the Premier League duo’s interest in Pierre Kalulu.

Both the Reds and Michael Carrick’s side have sent their scouts to ‘study’ the defender while live in action for the Turin club.

Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is a fan of the defender and has deemed him to be ‘untouchable’. In other words, he doesn’t want the club to sell him after this season.

Therefore, the Old Lady are now working to offer him a new contract until 2030 with a salary of €3.5m, likely net, per year. They want to tie the France international down to a new deal to fend off the Englsih clubs.

Born in Lyon, Kalulu has played for France at every youth level and made his senior debut last June. Didier Deschamps has called him up to the current squad, so there’s a reasonable chance of making the World Cup.

Liverpool and Manchester United have better financial resources than Juve. Should they make concrete advances, the Old Lady may have to make a decision, especially if the player were to push for a transfer.

Frenchman’s contract, value and agent info

Pierre Kalulu signed a contract until 2029. Transfermarkt valued him at €20m when he joined the Italian club in 2024 and that has now risen to €32m.

CAA Stellar manages him and their client list includes Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté and Rhys Williams, and Manchester United’s Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo.
