Wes Brown names one striker he hated playing against in Man Utd training, even ahead of Wayne Rooney

Wes Brown has admitted that former Manchester United teammate Louis Saha was a tougher test for him in training than the likes of Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford.

Louis Saha left Fulham in 2004 and the 47-year-old French striker completed a stunning £12.8m move to Manchester United to play under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former Fulham and Everton striker netted 42 times and registered 18 assists during his 124 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils side at the time.

Saha’s spell at Old Trafford was disrupted by injuries, despite the Frenchman being thought of highly at Man Utd for his natural attacking ability on the pitch.

The former Manchester United striker shared the Red Devils dressing room alongside Wes Brown and Wayne Rooney during his spell under ex-manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking to The Soccer Archive, MUTV pundit Brown was asked to pick one former teammate whom he “hated” to face as a defender during his playing career.

The 46-year-old former Man Utd and England defender admitted that Saha was a nightmare to man-mark in training due to the ex-striker’s range of abilities.

“One of my toughest opponents in training every day was Louis Saha,” Brown said.

“Honestly, he was so strong. He was good in the air, play[ed] with both feet, you know, turn[ed] you if you got too tight, quick, and could finish.

“So, I’m going to say I’m going to say Louis Saha.”

What happened to Louis Saha’s playing career after he left Man Utd?

Saha went on to have a steady playing spell at Everton and netted 34 times in 115 appearances for the Toffees before he left the Premier League club in 2012.

The former Man Utd and France striker’s contract with Everton expired and Saha completed a move to Tottenham for a brief six-month spell with Spurs.

Saha played for the likes of Sunderland and Lazio in the dying stages of his playing career before the ex-Everton forward retired from professional football in 2013.

Brown lifted five Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, two FA Cups and two League Cups with United during his successful spell at Old Trafford.
