Earlier this week we reported Aston Villa and Elche will face each other on Friday morning at the Pinatar Arena.
Both sides are looking to take advantage of the international break. This will help their players who are not on national duty to maintain their match fitness. It will also give a chance to a few younger players.
Aston Villa got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday. Goals from Ollie Watkins and John McGinn secured the three points.
This strengthened their top four place going into to the final seven games of the season. Liverpool’s defeat to Brighton the previous day enabled Villa to pull away.
They also made ground on 3rd place Manchester United after they could only draw against Bournemouth last Friday.
Unai Emery will be using tomorrow’s friendly to keep this momentum going until their next game. Villa will next face Bologna in the quarter finals of the Europa League on the 9th of April after knocking Lille out in the last round.
Aston Villa will then travel to Nottingham Forest on the 12th of April as they look to consolidate their Champions League place. Emery’s side are currently five points ahead of 5th placed Liverpool.

Aston Villa tickets on-sale
Diario Información have covered Elche’s press conference today and it’s been confirmed the game will be open to the public.
Elche manager Eder Sarabia has confirmed tickets are now on sale for the game, and they will be priced at €15. Tickets can be purchased at the Spanish club’s ground or online.
The La Liga club are expected to put out an experimental team due to international commitments. A number of young reserve players are also set to be drafted in.
Likewise, the friendly will enable Unai Emery to give some of his fringe players much needed game time.
The Aston Villa boss will also be able to give minutes to some of the young players that have travelled over to Spain.
With Europa League and Champions League qualification still to play for, Villa are going into a vital part of the season. Unai Emery will need a full squad at his disposal and this game could be beneficial in the coming weeks.
Aston Villa fans in the area may want to take the opportunity. For those not, Celta Vigo are planning to show the match via their official channels.
