Man Utd now looking at signing a player Bruno Guimaraes thinks is 'best in the world'

Manchester United are not only scouting Bruno Guimaraes, but the Red Devils are also showing interest in his Newcastle United teammate Lewis Hall.

When it comes to Ineos’ shopping list in the upcoming summer transfer window, two of the biggest priorities are strengthening the midfield and left-back areas.

United desperately need a long-term Casemiro replacement, and the Brazilian recommended signing Bruno Guimaraes as his successor at Old Trafford.

While Luke Shaw has impressed this season, United also need competition for the 30-year-old and ideally a young star who could replace him in the long-term. Right on time, United are showing interest in Lewis Hall, according to recent reports.

United have been linked with Tonali, Gordon, Thiaw, Hall and Guimarães. But which makes most sense?

Bruno Guimaraes hailed Lewis Hall as ‘best in the world’

If United do make a move for Guimaraes this summer, it seems the Brazilian wouldn’t mind being joined by Hall in a double swoop.

That is because Guimaraes called Hall the “best in the world” in an Instagram reply after the English defender starred against Barcelona.

Newcastle drew 1-1 against Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League playoff, and Hall impressed against Lamine Yamal.

The 21-year-old defender proved against Barcelona that he is capable of shining against the very best. This season, he has already impressed against the likes of Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka, too.

United could make a double swoop for Guimaraes and Hall this summer, poaching two of Newcastle’s best players in one swift move.

Lewis Hall is already beating Luke Shaw at England

If United did move for Hall, it would be because Ineos have identified him as the perfect replacement for Shaw at Old Trafford.

There are so many parallels between the two English left-backs, and Shaw is now United’s longest-serving player having made the move to United early in his career. Hall can follow in his footsteps.

But Hall wouldn’t be coming to Old Trafford to play second fiddle to his senior left-back, especially as Hall has taken Shaw’s England spot under Thomas Tuchel.

With the 2026 World Cup around the corner, it seems Hall is likely to go to the tournament ahead of Shaw.

Their competition for places could soon be carried over to Old Trafford.
