Simon Jordan sends Everton and Nottingham Forest warning over proposed PL appeal

Simon Jordan has sent a warning to Everton over their Premier League appeal following Chelsea’s sanction.

Everton have been left furious over the decision by the Premier League not to dock Chelsea points for their latest financial breach.

At the weekend, Everton fans slammed Chelsea with chants during their meeting at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Seven games left and on 46 points – how many points do you expect Everton to finish on? 🤔

Simon Jordan warns Everton against Premier League battle

Everton supporters protested against the Premier League at the weekend, with their frustrations made clear for all to see.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan has admitted Everton must be careful in their approach if they are to take their anger further.

“Whether you like the explanation or not, which I think most of us don’t, they have explained it,” said Jordan.

“They have attached, first of all, that they [Chelsea] haven’t breached PSR, which is what Everton were judged by. And we all know the ridiculousness of this: you can lie and cheat your way into circumstances, but as long as you don’t breach PSR, you’re not going to get the same consequences as those that do.”

Everton’s financial position is significantly better years on from the deductions, but Jordan is concerned that through clubs like the Blues and Nottingham Forest taking their concerns further it could harm them in the long run.

“You start saying to the people paying for these broadcast rights, “Hang on a second, you bought something that isn’t honest, true, or full of integrity.” You potentially unwind the league’s reputation and play into the hands of the other European leagues,” Jordan added.

“You might get your pound of flesh as an individual football club, but the bigger picture is that the hand that feeds you—the broadcasters and the value generated by the big six will be gone. All of a sudden, you’ll find yourself in a significantly diminished position.”

The Friedkin Group have demonstrated their business acumen since landing the keys on Merseyside. So, this is unlikely something the club will rush into without considerable thought.

The Friedkin Group will assess Chelsea appeal carefully

Whether Everton fans like it or not, there is a fine line that will need to be walked in this situation.

On the one hand, Everton will rightfully still feel the punishment they were dealt was not fair in comparison to what they were punished for.

However, is a moral win and perhaps some fairly insignificant compensation worth the uproar of a legal appeal? Only time will tell.

By now, Premier League fans would not be surprised to see Evangelos Markinakis throw Forest into the gauntlet of a battle with the league over something like this.

However, this is a new look Everton from the side which was handed the points deductions under Farhad Moshiri.

The Friedkins have steadied the ship on Merseyside and the Blues already look on their way to a brighter future.

Is it worth unsettling the progression over their frustrations over something has been buried away by the club?
