Manchester United have been linked with interest in Arsenal defender Ben White ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Graeme Bailey at TeamTalk, Manchester United are one of five Premier League teams tracking Ben White’s situation at Arsenal.
The 28-year-old has tumbled down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order and has only made seven Premier League appearances this season.
However, Ben White was called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad and could look for a permanent move away this summer to get his career back on track.

Ben White wants to return to centre-back role, it could suit Man United
When White was signed by Arsenal for £50 million in 2021, he was brought in as an exciting centre-back prospect who was incredibly talented and technical in possession.
Under Arteta, White has been transformed into a right-back, and he featured in the Premier League fan Team of the Season in 2023/24 because of his impressive performances out wide.
According to the TeamTalk report, White’s long-term ambitions are to return to a centre-back role, but he is also comfortable playing as a right-back.

That versatility could serve United well as Ineos are in the market for a centre-back as well as extra depth at right-back to challenge Diogo Dalot.
With Champions League football set to return to Old Trafford next season – provided the Red Devils secure a top-five finish – United will need a much bigger squad and White’s versatility could be key.

Ben White doesn’t fit Ineos transfer profile
Since the takeover, Ineos have targeted younger players in the transfer market. The oldest player signed to the first team was 26 years old, so White would become Ineos’ oldest signing.
While United need experienced players, the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire provide more than enough leadership at the back.

Maguire’s in talks for a new contract, and him extending his stay should end any rumours of a deal to bring White to Old Trafford.
If Ineos dip into the market for a defender, expect it to be a young, promising talent who can fulfil their potential at Old Trafford over the next 10 years.
